After disrespecting a black woman and her partner on a United Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Newark, New Jersey, a white woman was kicked off her flight. The New Years Day incident was recorded by Norma Rodgers, the lady who was being “fat shamed,” according to the Huffington Post.
“I can’t sit here because they’re both so big on left and right. I can’t even sit here. At least they’ll keep me warm,” said the woman in the center seat with a slight chuckle. Watch the full incident below:
After Rodgers asked the airline stewardess to find the blonde woman sitting next to her a new seat, she implied the oncology nurse and her significant other don’t eat salads due to their appearance. When the crew member attempted to find her a new seat, the woman graciously got up.
As she made her way to the back of the plane, she cursed at several passengers as they told her how rude she was for the way she acted and the words she said. The woman even yelled at another person on the plane: “Why don’t you sit in between those two big pigs?” she said.
One of those people on the plane just so happened to be Jonathan Fernandez from Love and Hip Hop: New York, reports Atlanta Blackstar. “I was appalled and I felt angry, because I am like, there are so many ways to go about this and I just hate that no one was kinda saying anything so I couldn’t hold it in, I and was like, ‘You’re disgusting! You’re disgusting!'” he said to Inside Edition.
Norma was quick to reply: “Bit*h, kiss my fat a**,” she said. “Excuse me! Who do I report her to? I would like to file a report against her. I am a platinum member and I’m not having it. I’m not starting my new year off with this kind of negativity.”
In a statement, an airline spokesperson said: “United flight attendants care about the safety and well being of all of our customers which is why they acted quickly to find a different seat for the disruptive customer. When it became clear that this passenger’s behavior was likely to be problematic on this flight, she was provided alternate travel arrangements first thing the next morning.”
This isn’t the first time there has been controversy on a United Airlines flight. In 2017, a paying customer was dragged off the flight to make room for employees. Even Delta has had its fair share of asking patrons to exit the plane. Remember that man who was asked to exit because he had to use the bathroom?
