You probably know Richard Williams as being the man responsible for launching Venus Williams and Serena Williams to star status, but now, the 76-year-old is in a battle with his ex-wife Lakeisha Graham, who seems to be trying to take him for everything he has. The former tennis coach has filed court documents accusing her of taking advantage of his current health state and forging his signature on several mortgage documents.
According to court reports, Richard has suffered two strokes which have left him hardly able to speak. Due to his medical condition, he has given power of attorney to his son, Chavoita LeSane, to act as his interpreter.
Lakeisha allegedly forged his signature on mortgage papers which transferred his Florida home into her name. Richard validated this by presenting examples of his signature from 2002 to compare to the 2017 documents. The mortgage she took out on the Palm Beach property was reportedly around $152,000.
In response to the restraining order, she claimed her ex-husband threw her out of their Florida home, which was owned by Serena. And apparently, Serena’s legal team wrote her letters, “requesting she and [her] child vacate the home and threatened to change the locks.”
Richard filed another lawsuit against Lakeisha last June, accusing her of stealing his social security checks. He then sought out a restraining order because she was reportedly stalking him and his son. His son, Chavoita, also filed a similar lawsuit against his former stepmother.
The former couple was married for seven years and filed for divorce in 2017. They share a six-year-old son named Dylan.
This shady mortgage case is still ongoing.
