Earlier in the week, Bill Cosby was finally sentenced to 3 to 10 years after being convicted of three charges of aggravated indecent sexual assault. Now, Samuel Silver, his former lawyer of the Philadelphia firm Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis, is coming to collect his coins, suing Cosby for nonpayment.
As detailed by the lawsuit, Cosby owes $283,000 in unpaid legal bills and more than $4,200 in late fees.
Silver began working with Cosby in January of 2016. He handled the Andrea Constand case, where the former Temple University employee accused him of drugging and sexually assaulting her. He withdrew from the case in January 2018 before Cosby was eventually convicted of these charges. According to CNN, “Cosby paid Silver’s bills through June 30, 2017, but hasn’t paid anything billed after that time.”
Cosby’s team reached out to the law firm, knowing they couldn’t pay, and asked for an extension. Andrew Wyatt, Cosby’s spokesman, wrote to the law firm Silver saying Camille Cosby “would be unable to make the payments she had agreed to make by the end of the year and needed until the second week in January, according to the complaint.” She still didn’t pay. Then in July, the Cosby reached out again saying, “Mr. Cosby is raising funds to be able to pay you by August 15.”
Needless to say, the firm still hasn’t received funds from the Cosby family.
