You’re about to feel A WHOLE LOT better about all the cash you spent on those On The Run II tour tickets. Beyoncé and JAY-Z just announced their joint scholarship program between The BeyGOOD Initiative and The Shaw Carter Foundation.

They’re not just taking your money (although, let’s be honest, we happily gave our paychecks to sit in those stands), they’re giving back to your community and passing it along to the kids that really need it.

Their new scholarship program will award “one exceptional senior high school student” $100,000 for their college tuition for this upcoming academic year. To enter, students will need to demonstrate financial need and must be a senior in one of the 11 On The Run II tour cities (Atlanta, Orlando, Miami, Arlington, New Orleans, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Clara and Seattle). They will also partner with The Boys and Girls Club of America in each of these cities to select the deserving student.

Just in case you missed it, their efforts will put $1.1 million back into the growth and development of our richest assets – our youth.

This announcement comes as no surprise. In April, BeyGood donated $100,000 to four HBCU students through her Homecoming Scholars Program (after her homecoming-themed Coachella performance) and then Jay-Z’s Shawn Carter Foundation Scholarship also closed their application process in the same month.  And finally, we can’t forget about last year’s Formation Scholars Award, which focused on helping deserving female students fund their educational goals.

Hats off to Beyoncé and JAY-Z on all their philanthropic initiatives, we need more of this in our community!
