A day after BET canceled Anika Noni Rose‘s hit show The Quad, the actress has snagged a new role as Carmen Jones.
This marks Rose’s return to the musical theater stage since her Tony winning role in 2004’s Broadway production of Caroline, or Change.
The original production premiered on Broadway in 1943 starring Dorothy Dandridge (whose Oscar nod for the role was the first for an African-American actress) and Harry Belafonte. Fans cans expect to see Rose on stage through July 29.
