The World Premiere of Black Panther took place and apparently someone was missing. One of the lead writers of Black Panther: World of Wakanda the comic series, Roxane Gay, took to social media to express her feelings about being left out of the red carpet event of one of the most anticipated films of the year. World of Wakanda is the comic series spinoff with characters in the same fictional nation featured in the film.

“My feelings are real hurt that I didn’t get an invite to the Black Panther premiere,” she wrote on Twitter.

She continued on to express that even though the comic and the movies are different entities, an invite would’ve been appreciated. Gay is a lead writer of the comic, and not the movie. Although she was left off the guest list for the premiere, Gay, who is one of the first black women to serve as a lead writer for Marvel, still encouraged people to support the film.

“I hope you alll support the movie enthusiastically. By all early accounts, is incredible. And a lot of black work and creativity went into its making.”

Celebrities such as Octavia Spencer, have already shown their support by buying out theaters for kids to see the film.

Black Panther features Chadwick Boseman and Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Angela Bassett, Michael B. Jordan, Daniel Kaluuya and hits theaters next Friday, February 16th 2018.
