Mo’Nique was the topic of conversation on social media over the weekend after calling for a Netflix boycott. Why? The streaming service reportedly offered the Oscar award winning actress $500,000 for a comedy special, an amount she felt was extremely too low. Watch below.
After the 50-year-old shared her thoughts on Netflix’s alleged gender and color bias, fellow comedian Wanda Sykes, showed her support and even revealed she was also a victim of being low-balled by the company.
.@moworldwide, thank you for speaking out. @netflix offered me less than half of your $500k. I was offended but found another home. #EPIX
Mo’Nique again took to social media to rally the troops around the boycott even more, asking why a white female comedian (Amy Schumer was paid $13 million for her special) was paid more than she and Sykes. Watch below.
With the recent news of the #TimesUp movement and Tracee Ellis Ross‘ fight for equal pay on Blackish, it seems as if we’ll see this narrative even more in Black Hollywood. Watch a few Lance Gross, Erica Ash and other celebrities weigh in on the issue of equal pay below.
But about that skin regimen, Mo. Give up the deets!
