Back in 2010, Faith Evans announced that she would be taken part in a biopic about the life of original Supremes member, Florence Ballard. However, last year Faith reportedly walked away from the movie, though not much was said on her end about why. In a new Q&A with Ebony.com, Faith opens up on what made her abandon the project.

EBONY: You were signed to star in the Florence Ballard project, but you backed out of it. Why’s that?

FE: I came on board because I was very excited to be asked by her family to be in that role, but what happened was the production company — I never got a contract and I don’t think that they were really in the place where they were ready to do the project. But it is something that I would love to be able to do, even if I had to find the resources and do it myself. I still talk to her daughters and I really wanted to see that happen for them. Her story really needs to be told. But my thing is, I don’t really want to step in someone else’s pile of mess.

Faith’s R&B Divas co-star, Nicci Gilbert of Brownstone, was a little less coy. Last year, she said:

"Faith Evans, Billie Woodruff, Martha Coolidge and I walked away from the Florence Ballard ‘Blondie’ film. None of us were fired…I debated posting about this Florence ‘Blondie’ Ballard Film mess because I didnt want to highlight ignorance but be warned. No disrepect to Florence Ballards legacy or her family, who were unaware the "producers" of the project are #FRAUDS,"

Meanwhile, check out Faith’s interview in full over at Ebony.com.
