If you ever run into Auntie Maxine Waters, be sure to congratulate her for her recent recognition as ‘Woman of the Year.’

The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation gave the major honor to the U.S. Representative of California during the Sojurner Truth Legacy Project reception, just one of the awards given to exemplary women of color during the event.

Other award recipients of the night included Dr. Mae Jemison, celebrating the 25th anniversary of her historic flight as the first African American woman to travel in space, and former Labor Secretary Alexis Herman.

For her acceptance speech, our congressional aunt delivered with her usual outspokenness, discussing the power of #BlackGirlMagic and reassuring us of the impeachment of you-know-who:

To make the moment even more celebratory, singer Ledisi was there to grace the audience with that beautiful voice.
