No idea is new under the sun. With representation (especially Black and minority representation) a hot topic in television right now, many are wondering if more efforts need to be done to put people of color on the screen.

Recently show creator, Issa Rae jokingly pitched a show idea about a Black version of 90210, focusing on teenagers living in predominately Black neighborhoods:

JAY-Z’s video for the song “Moonlight” features an all Black cast as a response to the predominately white show Friends.

When we see white responses to Black shows or “whitewashing” (see: criticism of Friends with predecessor Living Single) people are often offended, but is “Black-washing” (Black responses to white shows) the next big trend in television?

TELL US: How do you feel about Black responses to popular television shows? Should we just do our own thing?
