Straight outta Kentucky, Midnight Star rocked the house and dance floor in the early eighties with irresistible jams like Freak-a-Zoid, Operator , Slow Jam and of course, No Parking on the Dance Floor. Co-founders Reggie Calloway and Bill Simmons had put the band together while in college, and for the next several years the entire nine piece ensemble literally lived together in a house owned by the Calloway’s mom, who doubled as their manager. But while that family vibe fueled the band’s sense of purpose and nourished them through hard times, it ultimately proved their undoing, as arguments over money and management split the band in two at the height of their success. Now, the entire cast of the original Midnight Star band tells their Unsung story.
