Congratulations to the newly re-elected mayor of Compton, California, Aja Brown!

When Brown was first elected in 2013 at age 31, she was the youngest elected mayor in the city’s history.

Now, at age 35, she has won the election against former Mayor Omar Bradley with 60% of the vote, who, after his tenure of being mayor, was convicted of misusing city funds. That conviction was tossed out on appeal, enabling Bradley to toss his hat into the ring for this year’s mayoral election.

In her post-victory statement released on Wednesday, Brown stated that during her first-term as mayor, she has “led the way with new economic development to strengthen [Compton’s] local economy through new investment and new jobs for Compton residents”.

A black woman bettering a community, now that’s #BlackGirlMagic!

TELL US: Should Mayor Aja Brown eventually run for California state governor?
