Morgan State University is a public, historically black comprehensive research institution. It was established in 1867 as the Centenary Biblical Institute with the purpose of training men for ministry. In 1890 it was renamed after the first chairman of the schools board of trustees, Rev. Lyttleton Morgan.  Through its academic schools and colleges, Morgan State offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate degrees in numerous courses of study. Popular majors at Morgan State include Business Management, Engineering, Communication and Journalism. There is never a dull moment on campus. Beyond the classroom, Morgan State offers numerous student activities from being a member of the MSU student newspaper to stomping the yard with one of the historically black sororities and fraternities. For over 140 years, Morgan State University has continued its tradition of educating and preparing its students to be prominent members in their field and society.
