Founded in 1861, The University of Washington is one of the oldest public universities on the West Coast. UW is a multi-campus university with locations in Bothell, Seattle and Tacoma. Through its 16 schools and colleges, UW offers over 250 degree programs. Classes are offered for many interests: Biology, Architecture, Communication, Mathematics and much more. UW also offers classes in American Ethnic Studies. This department is steadfast to the production and communication of knowledge on key issues and aspects of race and ethnicity. The AES department focuses on four areas of study: African American, Chicano, Asian and Comparative AES.
