We’re not gonna lie, you’re probably gonna need tissues for this one.

Though we mostly think of Bern Nadatte Stanis as Thelma from Good Times, she’s also an author whose latest book “The Last Night” — a memoir about her and her mom’s relationship in her last days — caught our eye.

Most folks don’t know that shortly after her father was murdered, Stanis began acting as her mother’s care giver after she was struck with Alzheimer’s disease.

“It took me a long time to write it. I was in the mourning process as I was writing it. I felt like it had to be shared. So many people are going through the care-giving of a love one and they’re going through it in silence,” Stanis recently told Tom Joyner on his morning show.
