Founded in 1880, The University of Southern California is one of the leading private research institutions in the world. With 20 colleges, USC offers numerous degrees in fields of study such as Film and Television, Screenwriting, Biomedical and Astronautical Engineering, Music Education, Music Industry and much more. Under the College of Letters, Arts and Science, USC offers a degree in African American Studies. This program is designed to provide students with knowledge of the experiences of African Americans in history, politics, culture and society. Many may recognize USC for being featured in the film Love & Basketball, featuring Omar Epps and Sanaa Lathan. When all the studying is done, students can be active on campus through more than 750 student organizations including the National Pan-Hellenic Council Fraternities and Sororities, Black Business Students Association, Saved By Grace Gospel Choir and the Black Entertainment and Theatrical Association.
