The University of Kentucky is a public, land-grant institution established in 1865. UK offers more than 200 degree programs across its 16 colleges and schools. The most popular majors at UK include Biology, Psychology, Nursing and Accounting. UK also features an African American and Africana Studies Department. This degree field explores the study of African culture and migration. On campus, students can participate in more than 300 registered groups and organizations. Some of the groups geared toward African-American students include Black Law Students Association, National Society of Black Engineers, and eight of the National Pan-Hellenic Council fraternities and sororities.
