In September, North Carolina resident Keith Lamont Scott was gunned down by police.

Conflicting reports on whether he had a gun fueled several nights of protest and unrest as the community waited to see what would happen to the officer that killed Scott with four shots, including one in the back.

Today, the Washington Post reports that Officer Brentley Vinson, an African American, will not be charged based on the recommendation of several prosecutors who determined that Vinson acted lawfully.

During a morning press conference, district attorney R. Andrew Murray said “It was a difficult decision. However, the family was extremely gracious.”

The police stood by the claim (supported with some photos) that Scott was indeed armed and even pointed a gun at the cops before the shooting. Scott’s wife, Rakeyia, was heard on video saying her husband was unarmed but some screenshots show what appears to be an ankle holster on Keith’s leg.
