Kanye West being controversial is far from being news. In fact, it has become a public expectation:

-How can Kanye West shock us next?

-Who else doesn’t like Black people, Kanye?

-Kanye, did [blank] REALLY deserve that award?

When we heard that ‘Ye held a model call looking for “multiracial women” for his upcoming Yeezy season 4 fashion show our faces wrinkled a bit, but were we surprised? No.

Kanye later clarified that he was indeed looking for Black models but didn’t know how to properly express that he wanted “all variations of Black.”

Even then we were more shocked by the antics of Kanye West collaborator and Italian contemporary artist, Vanessa Beercroft, who has this weird elitist meets Pokemon-Go-gotta-catch-em-all type infatuation with Black people.

Not sure what that means? Here’s some clarity:

Hyperallergic reports that Beercroft was quoted saying:

“I had wanted to move to the States because of the presence of African-Americans. When I landed at JFK, my first impression is being welcomed by all of these African, or maybe Jamaican, air people that help you at the airport with your luggage. They were so kind. Welcome! I was so happy to see mixed races. In Italy, they are in the street selling gadgets.”

Like, really?

We saw the show and to be honest, it did seem like a celebration of black women ( we even spotted a few naturals there too). Granted they were dying in that hot-ass sun, but they were there, and in plenty.

Plus, ya’ll know how hard it is to find the right “nude” and neutral for your skin complexion (we can already hear the chocolate girls rejoicing). Now we can somewhat thank Kanye.
