    OUR FAVORITE WHITNEY HOUSTON PERFORMANCES

    February 13, 2012

    Whitney Houtson
As we continue to mourn the loss of Whitney Houston, here’s a reflection of some of my favorite performances throughout her illustrious career. With a voice like hers, there’s many, many more to love but here are just a few. After watching, share some of your own with us.

At the 1991 Billboard Music Awards, Whitney Houston perform a medley, including “Lover Man,” “My Man” and “All That I Need.”

In 1986, Whitney Houston performed on The Tonight Show on one of the many nights comedian Joan Rivers subbed for the late Johnny Carson.

Here Whitney covers the Dreamgirls classic, “I Am Changing,” at the 10th anniversary event for Arista Records in 1985.

During a 1991 rehearsal for her Saturday Night Live appearances, Whitney covered another Chaka Khan classic, “Sweet Love.”

Here, Whitney performs what’s since arguably considered the most celebrated version of the “Star Spangled Banner” of all time at the 1991 Super Bowl.

A spectacular performance of “I Love The Lord.

Whitney: The Concert for a New South Africa was a series of the three singers the iconic singer performed in South Africa in honor Nelson Mandela. Here she’s performing “I Have Nothing.”

Accompanied by then husband, Bobby Brown, Whitney performs “Mr. Bojangles” in tribute of Sammy Davis Jr. This event took place at Constitution Hall in Washington D.C. in 1997.

One of my favorites, “My Name Is Not Susan.” Get into those super duper bright suits. And Nippy’s two-step…you better get it right.

Greatest Love of All” at the 1987 Grammys.

Of course, Whitney’s famous duet with Mary J. Blige at the 1999 VH1 Divas special where the two cover Aretha Franklin’sAin’t No Way.”

As a bonus, check out Whitney Houston’s HBO 1991 concert special, “Welcome Home Heroes,” in full below:
