Last night, stars like Forest Whittaker, Chelsea Handler, Kelis and Paris Hilton came out for the Belvedere Vodka pre-Grammy party at Avalon in Hollywood. In conjunction with RED, the private event was organized to celebrate the music industry’s biggest weekend as well as raise funds for the Global Fund – which promotes programs combating HIV/AIDS in Africa.
The headliner of this year’s show was Mary J. Blige, who in a press release for the event stressed the importance of creating an HIV/AIDS free generation.
She explained: “I’m delighted to be supporting (Belvedere) RED in their fight against HIV & AIDS in Africa. It is one of the most devastating issues faced by millions in Africa and if we can raise awareness with this event and encourage people to buy (PRODUCT) RED, we’ll be one step closer to an HIV / AIDS free generation in 2015.”
Yours truly was in attendance and apparently was spotted several times on the main screen (and subsequently, the online broadcast of the concert) with drinks in hand boppin’ super duper hard with Mary like I was collecting a check, too. In my defense, well, open bar and longtime love of all thinks MJB will do that, too.
