From health care to the economy, seasoned journalist and political pundit Roland Martin is covering the hottest political issues of the time and talking about what matters most to our community. Washington Watch with Roland Martin stands apart from the traditional lineup of Sunday morning public affairs programs by giving voice to the newsmakers, politicians, community leaders, and celebrities that offer perspective from the African American point of view. Weekly panel discussions span anywhere from finance reform to the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Regular panel members include April Ryan, White House correspondent for the American Urban Radio Networks, and Robert Traynham, Philadelphia Tribune columnist and Comcast host.
Every so often, you can catch a special prime-time edition of Washington Watch where Roland Martin’s journalistic instincts and intellectual charm capture the essence of the occasion. The programs make for memorable moments such as Roland Martin along side the First Lady, Michelle Obama, discussing her Let’s Move initiative and strolling through the White House gardens.
Washington Watch with Roland Martin made its debut in September 2009, the same year President Barack Obama was inaugurated as the 44th President of the United States of America. As a new interest in politics and government peaked in our community, and we faced the most challenging of economic times since the great depression, TV One created Washington Watch with Roland Martin as a platform for political conversation and debate.
