Great X-Pectations

Dean Davenport gives her students an assignment to write a dialogue detailing what might have been said during the only meeting between Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. Terrell and Charmaine show up late for an appointment with their friends. They reveal that a pickup truck full of guys harassed Charmaine, then tried to run them off the road after they retaliated. Charmaine files a police report, while Terrell becomes obsessed with proving his manhood. Dean Davenport discovers that Terrell has brought a gun to class with him. She announces that she is expelling him. Dwayne asks her to reconsider because Terrell is such a fine student, but takes him to task for his behavior. Terrell shows up to class so that he and Dorian can complete their assignment. He plays the role of Dr. King and speaks of the need to seek change through education rather than violence. The dean is impressed and decides to let him stay in school, provided that he keeps his grades up and completes a community service assignment. Meanwhile, Spencer repeatedly asks Kim to marry him.

Montel Jordan

In 1995, Montell Jordan showed up on the party scene with the unquenchable anthem “This Is How We Do It”, reppin’ South Central and taking over the R&B and pop charts for seven straight weeks. Throughout the 90s, Montell Jordan rocked house parties and dance floors with a string of chart winners like “Let’s Ride” and “Get It On Tonite”, combining the sounds of west coast hip hop and smooth R&B. A multi-dimensional musician, songwriter and producer, he not only crafted many of his own hits, but co-produced classic singles for other artists, including Deborah Cox’s power ballad “Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here” and Sisqo’s “Incomplete”. And standing at 6’8”, Montell took tall, dark and handsome to a whole new level. But living the superstar lifestyle came with a price, taking a toll on his music, his faith and his marriage. In this startlingly candid episode of ‘Unsung’, Montell Jordan and his wife Kristin, frankly discuss Montell’s ride to the top, the cost to their marriage and why he finally walked away from stardom.

However, she enlists Regine (who is on a paid vacation while the boutique undergoes remodeling) to go into the office to keep an eye on Synclaire. Russell, the music editor, is furious when his column is cut (although it was Khadijah's decision). He quits, and announces that he will not return as long as Synclaire is running the magazine. While the office is in chaos, an important prospective client arrives, as Synclaire had forgotten to re-schedule the appointment. Synclaire calls Khadijah to ask for help, but Khadijah is too drowsy from the medicine that Max had given her. Synclaire improvises, offering to refund the man's money if the ad does not increase sales at his Brooklyn shoe stores. Khadijah is impressed by Synclaire's work, and admits that she also makes things up as she goes along. A full-page photo of Russell confuses her, but Synclaire explains that it was the only way to coax him into coming back. Overton must care for the cranky, whiny Khadijah during her illness, but gets his revenge when he is laid up with the flu.
