When celebrities – particularly R&B singers – reach a certain age they start to sound an awful lot like that grandmother of yours who says whatever the hell is on their mind. Well, in T-Boz’s case, that has gotten her into a bit of trouble. Yes, the TLC singer was asked about her thoughts of celebrity talent show judges and many took it her throwing shade in Nicki Minaj’s direction.
When asked about celebrity talent show judges, she explained:
“I don’t respect half [of] the people I’ve seen lately. How the hell is she gon’ tell me what I should be doing when her azz can’t even sing. Why is she there? And then…now they’ve got rappers that don’t even sing judging? So, this is totally based off of popularity I guess. I mean, to each their own. Get your money, honey. All I’m saying is, I will never watch [your] shows again.”
Here’s the thing: With all due respect to T-Boz, she is not exactly a songbird herself. I mean, TLC had a background singer in Debra Killings. Yeah, a group with a background single. “Let’s Do It Again” is my song as is “Red Light Special,” “Creep,” and “Baby-Baby-Baby,” but c’mon nah.
In any event, T-Boz took to Twitter to deflect from the criticism:
