“Beyonce: Life Is But A Dream” New York Premiere

Whatever Beyoncé neglects to reveal about her album, we can always count on longtime collaborator The-Dream to fill us in. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the premiere of her HBO documentary, “Life is But a Dream,” The-Dream talks about the space Beyoncé was in while recording her forthcoming fifth album due as soon as April. Get excited.

The site reports:

"Her sound is growing with how she’s growing, not because she’s a mother though. She’s just musically growing into a place — it’s the same place we were in with 4. I think 4 was one of those, what I call, ‘the corner’ albums — same album that Rihanna did when she did Rated R. There are albums that you turn a corner on that aren’t always taken for the glitz and glamour of things, because it’s not as commercial. But they’re corner albums, and they have to be there. She had to turn that corner with 4 in order to get to where we’re trying to go right now."

And as to whether she’s still a workaholic:

"It hasn’t changed. No, she’s crazy!" he said, laughing, adding of the mother of 1-year-old Blue Ivy Carter: "She goes home on time now, but that doesn’t stop her from coming in even earlier, which is what makes us get up!"
