trayvon martin

(Originally published on 05.17.2012)

Trayvon Martin died from one gunshot to the chest, according to his autopsy reports, which were just released to the public. The report indicates Martin was shot at an "intermediate" range with the round entering the left side of his chest, shattering a heart ventricle. The bullet did not leave his body, and the report also states Martin had lacerations on his knuckles. Do Martin’s wounds support George Zimmerman’s claim that he acted in self-defense?

Zimmerman’s doctor supplied investigators with a written statement describing the wounds Zimmerman presented to him the day after the shooting. In the report, the doctor states Zimmerman had a broken nose, two black eyes, lacerations on the back of his head and a back injury. With this new information, the public debate continues over whether or not Martin attacked Zimmerman before the shooting, and what difference it really makes when 911 calls prove Zimmerman pursued Trayvon.
