Tommy Ford landed his first television role on A Different World soon after graduating from the University of Southern California. Since then he has appeared in multiple films, including Harlem Knights, Mr. Jones, The Butchers Wife and Class Act.

In addition to his role as Tommy Strawn on Martin, Ford probably is also known for his role as Lt. Malcolm Barker on New York Undercover and as The Pope of Comedy on the TV One comedy series Bill Bellamy’s Who’s Got Jokes.

Ford has directed and produced several plays for which he received critical acclaim. Among those productions are Jonin’, South of Where We Live, and Distant Fires.  Ford has received several Drama-Logue and NAACP Image Awards, as well.

Ford has tapped into the music industry where he has executive produced a gospel CD entitled Tommy Ford Presents Broderick E. Rice Live. He also has written children’s books including, Be Still and Know and Stop the Violence.

Ford is a supporter of charitable organizations and has received several awards for his humanitarian efforts.
