Let’s keep it real and admit that we all love a juicy story. When that story involves sex and possibly romance, it’s even better! But before you get caught up and give a play-by-play of your latest sex-capade, think before you kiss and tell.
Sometimes the rendezvous is oh-so-magnificent or oh-so-horriblethat you want to tell some one. That’s natural – but before you go and spill your guts, deliberate long and hard. Believe me, you don’t want your words to come back to haunt you.
As grown folks, we have to understand that the art of kissing and telling can be more than mere entertainment. As a teenager it might have been cute to brag about your kiss with the football captain but as a grown woman you might want to keep your man’s skills to yourself. Remember: Curiosity killed the cat and sharing such intimate details might kill a thing or two in your path – like a friendship or your personal image.
Some people have mastered the art of kiss and tell and made very lucrative careers out of running their mouths. I’m not mad, I’m just certain that is not a good look for everyone. Remember Superhead a/k/a Karrine Steffans? In 2005, she became the world’s most infamous video vixen, when she publicized her sexual adventures.
Her best selling book, Confessions of a Video Vixen, featured the biggest names in the music business. Even as recent as March she claimed that her new husband’s manhood was of a questionable size and he lacked skills in the bedroom.
I don’t know Superhead!?! You got my attention the first time for pure entertainment but now you look like nothing more than a common media wh@re hoarder. You don’t want to be that girl do you?
If you think trading kiss and tell stories with your bestie is harmless think again. Some things are better left unsaid.
I admire my bestie for never giving me any play-by-play personal details of the man she was seriously dating. I was starting to think she hadn’t sampled the goods but now he is her husband and I totally understand. Do you really want your girls to know your man now-husband’s favorite position? T.M.I. ladies!
So when you’re on the verge of a kiss and tell moment, keep it light. When you want to shout to the world about your lover’s skills or lack there-of, give your girls a nod, a wink or even a high five – they will know what you’re talking about. You will thank yourself years from now for keeping some things close to your heart.
